I would like to welcome you back to Westlake High School and to my English III AP class! This will be my tenth year teaching, and my eighth year at Westlake High School. I also serve as the varsity assistant and JVA boy's soccer coach and I am coaching the kickers and punters for the varsity football team. I am very excited to have you in class, and I am looking forward to a great year!
A little bit about me: I am a 2001 graduate of Westlake High School, where I learned my passion for teaching from the many excellent teachers that I had along the way. I come from a family of teachers, as my mom taught for 40 years in Eanes ISD and a private school, and my father, Dale Baker, has taught at Westlake for 39 years. My wife, Ashley, also teaches at Westlake, and many of you may have her as your Mentorship teacher. We are lucky enough to be the parents of triplets! Dallen, Everly and Grayson will turn three on September 11th! I am also a 2005 graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, where I played football, culminating with a Rose Bowl Championship in 2005. I have played soccer all my life, and am an ardent supporter of Chelsea Football Club, the 2015 English Premier League Champions! I grew up a die-hard Cowboys fan, but have recently joined the community of New Orleans Saints fans, as my brother-in-law, Garrett, is starting his second year as an NFL quarterback!
